Finding Paradise is about our journey to both the paradise within, which we access now, and the paradise we will one day live in, as our fullest selves. This painting has two alternate titles, Eden Restored and Grandma in Paradise, and is dedicated to my Grandmother Eden who is in the process of her journey to the other side. My mother and I held it over her bed - and she saw it - and we told her it was where she was going. The blue butterflies are in her lacy blue color pattern and are symbolic of her and her best friend Ruth. She wears a golden crown with the tree of life as the central motif. The juicy papaya is the fruit that we will always have, the living fruitfulness of life! Her winged eye is symbolic of her visionary journey - and the intutive abilities that she has always had. May my Grandmother, Eden McCloud, rest in Paradise.
